#27.... T-Shirt Album Track 6-8

I have fallen out of the T-Shirt Album Track posting so here's the rest.
ENJOY

Track 6:
Bought from the venerable folks @ Turntable Lab

Detail Shot:

My favorite part is the symbol for the 45RPM record insert... I have one on my keychain too

Here's a 45RPM record being played:

Track 7

The wife bought this for me and gave it to me on a random trip north to MN:

These dudes made some good music a while back.

Here's Steveland Morris covering them (one of the few -only?- times a cover surpassed the original):

You can find all sorts of 'name & name... tshirts' here - http://www.thenamesbrand.com/
(I returned the favor and got my girl this one for valentines day)

Here's Track 8:
Bought this @ Gordman's when I worked there for like 4 months.

Nuff Said.

#26.... stop what you're doing

right NOW

go here and download the remix of Amerie's stellar song 'One Thing' by siik.

next go to the man's website (siik.org) and enjoy.
the dude is all over pictures and youtube and has some super dope mixes posted.

I am currently on my 5th time in a row listening to this JAM.

Here's the video for the original song:

the original is a straight up monster. it's working on 4 years old and I'm still not tired of it.

the remix takes the go-go (DRUMS PLEASE!) out and throws in some strings and picked electric guitar and moves it into the smoothed out tip... aaaah. perfect for drinking a cold beer and eating some fresh guacamole on a patio outside, which I will be doing every possible moment this summer... if it ever gets here.

and I'm done geeking out over another R&B song

ps - just finished the 7th time through... on to #8

In case you didn't already know I'm very unoriginal ("so").
Most of the stuff I post I've stolen from other sites. Kanye is all over the place with his posts, I might not like everything he posts, but I dig his enthusiasm I guess.

#23.... cross blog pollination (Beati Paoli Winter Tour 2009: Day 3/4 - Dallas, TX & Muskogee, Ok) *UPDATE

UPDATE - Click here to read my post on TNM

We've got a special treat today. Have you ever wanted to know what it's like to go on tour with a real life rock and/or roll band? Check this.

In attempt to promote some other blogs that I read on the regular, Ryan from The Noising Machine has a word from about Beati Paoli's recent tour.
For Day 1/2 go HERE

Beati Paoli Winter Tour 2009: Day 3/4 - Dallas, TX & Muskogee, OK

We arrive in Dallas around 6pm to the faint sounds of the Super Bowl drifting out of the bars and onto the streets. Yes, we are playing a show on Super Bowl evening. I guess that it won't really affect us since the Cowboys aren't playing...

We load in and pretty much hang out inside the venue, The Lounge on Elm St. The original plan is for us to play at 8. We are told of a slight change and we will not go on until after the bowl game, that way people whom are leaving neighboring bars and whatnot have a chance to finish up their drinking elsewhere and then can wander into The Lounge. We accept this proposal and go off to find food.
We return to find out that neither the local band nor any patrons have shown up yet. It is at this point I learn for the bartender that they normally are not even open on Sunday's. I begin to worry. With these troubling facts and that there are no BP tour flyers posted anywhere in the venue, I'm guessing It could be a sparse crowd.

Well, one individual shows up, old friend and fellow Lincoln High School alumnus, Chris Cass. We chat, listen to some terrible band being played over the PA singing about glory holes, dicks, bushes and whatnot, (Greg summed them up as a more retarded Bloodhound Gang, but with a smaller vocabulary), watch some random birthday girl take a cleavage shot from the busty bartender, play a private show for Tony and Chris, then quickly get the hell out of there.

On the way to Chris' apartment, he tells us of the neighboring apartment, whose former tenant he believes committed suicide recently. The neighboring apartment's door is unlocked and has been for the last few weeks. Naturally, we all dare Cecil to spend the night there and even pool 120 dollars amongst Scott, Greg, Chris, Tony and me (with Tony chipping in the most at 40 dollars) as a reward. He goes back and forth on doing it. Finally, Cecil and I go next door to at least check out the place. Immediately entering, we are met with the horrific stench of mold and mildew (Chris had mentioned that at one point water was seeping into his apartment from next door). We check the place out and it's empty aside for a couch in the living room and a lipstick case in the bedroom. We split and Cecil chickens out.

The next morning we awake and are out of Chris' apartment by 8 am. It's our day off, so we have to make a decision as to what we will do: visit the alien graveyard or the Dr Pepper museum. After some serious debating, we settle on Dr Pepper and are Waco bound. Upon arrival, we spend the next hour and a half perusing the annals of Dr Pepper and learn all sorts of interesting things that I have since forgotten. We try hot Dr Pepper with a lemon (which is surprising tasty) and load-up on Dr Pepper made with real sugar.

We then spend the next 6 or 7 hours driving to Springfield, Missouri. While passing through Muskogee, Oklahoma, our van starts making funny noises. We decided to not risk it and stop there for the night. We get a good nights rest at a Comfort Inn.

------------------------------------------------------------------

thanks for reading. check The Noising Machine for all sorts of fun/interesting/thought-provoking things. And the next exciting entry from the T-shirt Album will be posted on The Noising Machine as well. SYNERGY!

Want to know what happens for the rest of the tour? Does Cecil take any outlandish bets, does the van make it, does Greg's long last twin come back from the dead to tell him they have to get back home for a paternity test????... ok enough. Just check TNM on the regular and you'll be better for it.

#21..... R&Bonanza

these dudes are sooooo killing me right now

Ryan Leslie:

The-Dream:

Ryan Leslie produced Me & U for Cassie. Before that he taught himself how to play the piano, then everything else, graduated high school early then graduated from HARVARD and now he makes dope music. His album is out now.

The-Dream produced Umbrella and makes music that sounds to me like Prince and Timbaland had a baby. He has an album out soon.

I don't know where this obsession comes from.

I think it started here:

#14..... interview with Craig Finn of the Hold Steady

here's an a link to an "exclusive" interview I had with Craig, lead singer of the Hold Steady.

http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=22017

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you'll find;

john, des moines, ia: If you could play any position, what would it be? would you prefer to be the leadoff or cleanup hitter?

SportsNation Craig Finn: I think 2B maybe. I would like to be in the middle of a double play. It's a very graceful position. Big wish for a very clumsy person.

Even though he didn't answer the rest of my question, he was still a good interview-ee. I also wanted to ask him what music he would play whilst walking up to the batter's box, but it didn't get through in time.

here's my choice:

#13..... T-Shirt Album Track 3

#5...... "dissapointing" things

these are all albums that just didn't quite cut it for me (and for good measure, I'll throw in something from the halcyon days)...

My Morning Jacket's "Evil Urges"
1 song, Highly Suspicious threw me for a loop, sounds too much like a Korn song for me. Unfortunately it's early in the tracklist (#3) and it left a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the album. I loved the last album, Z, maybe a little too much and wanted more...
Here's Off the Record from their last album "Z":

The Hold Steady "Stay Positive"
Let's start with the art work...
Which do you like better THIS or THIS
It's no contest really.
I still really enjoyed the album but I had trouble getting past the drab cover.
Also, they put one of the best songs as a hidden/bonus track at the end of the last track! Franz pounds out the horn part nicely on the keys, though.
"Boys & Girls..." was the perfect album at the perfect time for me but I think with time "Stay Positive" will grow even better.
Here's You Can Make Him Like You from "Boys & Girls..."

those were 2 rock albums, now let's move on to a few hip-hop/rap albums...

Devin the Dude "Landing Gear"
Maybe he shouldn't have left Rap-a-lot records...
Here's Lacville '79 from "Just Tryin..."

...this albums was not-good enough that I need another, Georgy from his 1st self titled album:

Lil Wayne "Tha Carter III"
I don't know what I was expecting... but this wasn't quite it. Comfortable & Let the Beat Build got multiple spins, but nothing else really stuck with me... outside of Lollipop.
Here's Mr. Carter freestyling over Beyonce's Upgrade:

I guess I was expecting 08 to be huge because of those albums. They were all pretty damn good though (except Devin... seriously Dude who the F is Dee-Rail!??!?) and there were plenty of others that I was happy about with a few surprises too.

anybody out there? what do you think?
